5 X-lite and freephonie

To use SIP service, it is necessary to get software.

I chose to present X-lite software configuration because it is simple and free, you can download it to following address: http://www.xten.com/index.php?menu=download.

Free provider offer since May 2006 SIP phone service.

We will see together how to configure X-lite to use freephonie service.   

5.1 SIP service activation  

It is necessary to go on management console of its free account.

Click on "Gestion de mon compte SIP"

Enter a 10 number lengths password.

Choose if you want that freebox number call must be redirect to your SIP software (X-lite) or on freebox phone.

If you choose that incoming call was directed to SIP software and that one is not launch then calls will automatically redirected to freebox.
Check “activer le service” then click on “envoyer”.

Freephonie SIP Service is now available.

5.2 X-lite configuration

We will describe X-lite configuration to use with freephonie.

See below X-lite after setup.

Click on menu button situate on right CLEAR button.

Click on System Settings.

Click on SIP Proxy.

Click on Default.

Enable default proxy putting Enable: yes.

Choose the name that you want to appear after Display Name.

Complete “username” and “Authorization User” with your Freebox phone number and “Password” which you put on console management of free account. 

Put freephonie.net as “Domain/Realm” and “SIP Proxy” like above illustrated.

Configuration is now finished and you just have to check if X-lite is connected to freephonie server by observing on top of the application if the status is “Logged in”.
