1 SMOOTHWALL installation

1.1 SMOOTHWALL presentation

SMOOTHWALL is a LINUX distribution  which makes it possible to transform a PC into gateway and firewall. It is a free distribution which weighs surroundings 40 Mo that one can download here. It easy A to install and has to parameterize, because the parameter setting is done via HTTP/HTTPS.

1.2 Requirement

Basic configuration  The distribution smoothwall does not need a super configuration hardware powerful, it turns easily on a machine of the type Pentium I, II, III, with at least 128 Mo of RAM, a hard disk of 4 go and a motherboard with free PCI slot according to the number of chart network which you will use.

1.4 Server configuration
