Summary

    The electronic mail service or more commonly called “e-mail” is the most diffused tool on the Internet. It’s a free service that allow distant people each others to communicate using a precept quasi similar as the postal form.

    The goal of this article is to define the different protocols used in mail transfer, to introduce the main tools of Open Source mail service, their classification over four categories: the mail transfer agents, the mail delivery agents, the e-mail servers, and the mail user agents.

    After reading this article, you will be able to choose the mail service solution that best corresponds to which you would implement.
