"Reverse-engineering" is used to reconstitute the sources or the model of an existing information system. It consists in disassembling a software or a technology in general, in order to determine how it was conceived. We will treat utility of such a process in the technological universe. We will see the methods of reverse engineering in data processing or electronics. This article wants to be simple and accessible to anybody; the purpose is to sensitize on importance of these practices which make possible to improve largely technologies and for which constructors do not want to reveal the specifications.
